Cara appeared with Pete Souza, Theon Hill, and Allison Prasch at "Public Images of the Presidency," an event featuring Souza's presidential photography at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in April 2024.

Cara delivered the keynote address at the 2023 International Visual Literacy Association conference, Oct. 5-8, 2023.

Cara's guest essay on how Trump's mug shot fits into the history of presidential portraiture was published online in the New York Times on Aug. 30, 2023 and in print on Sunday, Sept. 3.

Cara spoke alongside former Chief White House Photographer Pete Souza at the July 2023 Warren G. Harding Symposium, "Through the Photographer's Lens: Exploring the United States Presidency."

Cara was an on-camera interview subject for an episode of the PBS online documentary, The Bigger Picture: "Did this photo make Lincoln President?"

Photographic Presidents won an NEH Open Book Award and is now available in a free, open access version
